1990-057/001 – Dress

Dungaree dress made in prison camp and worn by Margaret Nash from 1943-1945. Short sleeved with five white buttons from waist to top, then 11 inch zipper from waist down. Large pocket on lower right and small pocket left breast. According to one source, the material was salvaged from the nurses quarters by hospitalmen. Goldie O’Haver, a gifted seamstress (Navy Nurse), made dresses for fellow POW’s. Some had long sleeves. See page 198, Navy Nurse, by P. Cooper – 2nd paragraph.
