Articles – a) “Nurses Tell of Capture of Guam” upon return to USA, Doris Yetter, Marion Olds, Leona Jackson, Loraine Christiansen, the fifth nurse Virginia Fogerty was married enrout to USA, returned by ship and later discharged from the Navy. Picture of Doris Yetter, Marion Olds and Christiansen with article. b) Captured on Guam, moved 10 January 1942 to Shikoku, South Japan and imprisoned, in March. They were transfered to a detention house in Kobe until 16 June when they were put on refugee ship and sent home to New York, The USS Gripsholm. c) Eleven Navy Nurses lost in Philippines, Manila, only navy nurse to escape was Ann Bernatitus from Corregidor leaving in a submarine 2 days before Corregidor fell. First person to win the newly – created “Legion of Merit” is Ann Bernatitus, pictured in new white uniform.
