Article, From The Quan (POW magazine) November 1992 page 5, “Bataan Survivor Honored” – Describes “battle” to award Navy and Marines the Bronze Star who had fought on Battaan and Corregidor during WWII. The medal was awarded to Army and Air Corps in 1983. But Navy didn’t believe in blanket awards. Hugh Merritt Struggled 11 years and finally the Bronze Star was given to all those eligible including Ann Bernatitus, NC.
