BW. Nurse’s quarters, Great Lakes IL. 1939. Sylvia Lavache Barnes (L) and Josephine “Jo” Fogarty, nurse’s quarters in backround. “When I resigned in 1940, I had orders to Guam. Jo Fogarty took my place. She was a P.O.W for six monthes in Japan was married on an Exchange Ship in 1942. Our Ambassador Joseph C. Grew From Mass. gave the bride away. Her husband was the American Cosul in Japan, the site of the prison camp.”
