Gulf Coast Navy Nurse Corps Association
Northwest Florida (panhandle), Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana
History
The GCNNCA officially started in 1995. The chapter consists of a Board of Directors elected by the membership, and officers selected from the board of directors.
Projects and Engagement
- GCNNCA participates in the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Pensacola Naval Base, the local Veterans Day Parade, and networks with the local chapter of Women of the Sea Services Waves. Ongoing projects include recording the history of chapter members, fund raising, and recognition of chapter members for their contributions to the chapter, the NNCA and their communities.
- The GCNNCA annually awards a scholarship to a deserving future Navy nurse or active duty Navy nurse working on their nursing education on their own time. The chapter considers applications from hospital corpsmen working on their undergraduate degree in nursing and planning to join the Navy Nurse Corps.
Chapter Membership
NNCA is a national membership organization. Members of this national organization may or may not be affiliated with a Chapter, but all Chapter members must be members of the national organization.
Membership is open to all Navy nurses (active duty, active reserve, retired, and retired reserve, and former active and reserve nurses with an honorable discharge) living or working in Northwest Florida (panhandle), Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana
