History
Navy nurses in the Orlando area began holding regular meetings in November 1986. The chapter was chartered on January 30, 1991. The Board of Directors includes a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. There are 5 additional Members.
Mission
To provide support of the NNCA and a social forum for information sharing and networking. Projects: Scholarship Fund and participation in Veteran and community events.
Projects and Engagement
- The chapter holds three luncheon meetings per year: one in the greater Orlando area; one in the Jacksonville area in the spring; and a combined meeting midway between Jacksonville and Orlando in the fall. The chapter publishes The FNNCA Scuttlebutt newsletter twice yearly.
- FNNCA and NNCA national organization co-sponsor DAISY Awards with Naval Hospital Jacksonville.
Chapter Membership
NNCA is a national membership organization. Members of this national organization may or may not be affiliated with a Chapter, but all Chapter members must be members of the national organization.
Membership is open to all Navy nurses (active duty, active reserve, retired, and retired reserve, and former active and reserve nurses with an honorable discharge) living or working in living or working in Florida, excluding the panhandle.
In order to join a NNCA Chapter, you must also be a member of the national NNCA.

Scholarships
The Florida Navy Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Committee has established a fund to award scholarships to deserving nursing students and/or Registered Nurses to continue their studies for a baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing. The amount of each award will be $1500 and will go directly to the recipient. This year (2024-25) two scholarships will be awarded in this category.
Application deadline is November 15, 2024.
