Article – from Iron Mountain, Mich. “Friendships Forged in Boot Camp Last Life Time” Six nurses reunited in Iron Mountain – who were stationed at Farragut, Idaho, arriving New Year’s Eve 1944. They arrived in 25 degrees below 0 weather. The next year was spent treating patients injured in Pacific battles WWII. This started a lifelong friendship for the past 50 years. They have reunited regularly. They met every 5 years until 1980 the every 3 years to 1988, now every 2 years. The nurses are Kay Bossard, Mary Denison Hendershoff, Virginia Watterson, Lorraine Struck, Bernice Donahue Westford and Hedy Swiech Churbuck. All left the Navy after war except Bernice Donahue Westford who served 25 years in NC. Photo in paper of the 6 nurses.
