Northwest Navy Nurse Corps
Association (NWNNCA)
The Northwest is the birthplace of the NNCA but we were the
second chapter to be formed.
The Navy Nurse Corps Association Museum is located in Washington
State and NW chapter members manage and maintain this collection
of Navy Nurse Corps memorabilia.
In May 2002 the NW chapter hosted the NNCA reunion with a cruise
to Alaska. Over 800 Navy Nurse Corps members with their families
and friends participated in the tour.
Membership: NWNNCA is open
to all Navy Nurses, active reserve, former and retired. Currently
membership includes nurses from the states of Washington, Oregon,
Idaho, Montana and Alaska. There are over 100 active NWNNCA
members. There is a board of directors, which meets twice a year
in the summer and winter. Any member may volunteer to be a board
member. Board members are then elected by the membership. Officers
are selected from the members of the board.
Meetings: Two luncheon meetings
are held annually. These meetings are held on the second or third
Saturday of April and October. The specifics of each meeting are
posted in the newsletter sent out to NWNNCA members in March and
September.
Chapter Dues: NWNNCA membership
dues are $5 per year and may be paid with the annual NNCA dues
each Spring.
Chapter Mission/Projects: The
Mission of the NW chapter is to facilitate information sharing,
socialization, and camaraderie among local Navy Nurses. Chapter
projects include fund raising, selection of nursing school scholarship
recipients and selection of outstanding graduating NROTC nursing
students.
